The High Priestess & the New Moon in Scorpio

The High Priestess from The Mythic Tarot

I had a serendipitous moment this morning when I pulled my tarot card of the day – The High Priestess - and realized that it harmonizes quite nicely with today’s New Moon in Scorpio.  A Scorpio moon marks a time of deep transformation, introspection, and renewal. Scorpio, a sign known for its intensity and desire for truth, brings a focus on releasing what no longer serves us, uncovering hidden emotions, and setting intentions that align with our true desires. Because it’s a new moon, this is an ideal time to plant seeds of intention, but before we do that we first need to pull out the old weeds by the roots.

This month I’m working with one of my favorite decks for introspection, The Mythic Tarot, by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene.  This deck and its excellent guidebook present a comprehensive overview of tarot as depicted through the stories from ancient Greek mythology. The High Priestess in the Mythic Tarot is represented by Persephone, queen of the underworld. As such, she signifies one’s secret shadow self and the world of the unconscious. What better environment than the intense and mysterious world of Scorpio for her to make an appearance?

I feel like the message here is a confirmation that the willingness to go deep and face what must be uprooted and changed in life will bear fruit. The High Priestess in tarot represents intuition, mystery, and the wisdom of the inner self. Tapping into her energy can be profoundly transformative. Here’s are some ways in which the High Priestess can guide self-transformation:

·      Embrace Silence and Reflection. The High Priestess is often a call to withdraw from external noise and distractions. We must learn to trust what lies beneath the surface and developing our intuition.

·      Confront our Shadow Aspects—the fears, insecurities, and hidden emotions we may try to ignore. This could be through shadow work, where you explore these hidden parts of yourself with compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.

·      Allow Space for Mystery by releasing the need for logical answers and learning to embrace the mysteries of life and the unknown. Transformation requires letting go of control and trusting the process.

The High Priestess is an excellent reminder that transformation is a gradual process that requires patience and trust. By embracing her energy, we can become more in tune with our true selves, which will naturally guide us toward the changes we need to make.
