SMALL BUT MIGHTY PLUTO

Did you know that Pluto (formerly known as a planet and now relegated to the status of a dwarf planet) is only about two-thirds the diameter of the earth’s moon? It reaches temperatures of -387 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, all planets in our solar system rotate around the energy-giving sun in roughly the same plane of the ecliptic (imaginary plane of the earth’s path around the Sun) except for Pluto, which has a tilt that deviates by 17 degrees. And – it takes 248 years to do so!

However, despite its small size and its long and eccentric orbit, in the world of astrology Pluto wields a lot of power. According to Isabel Hickey, author of the classic book “Astrology – A Cosmic Science”, Pluto shows ‘the highest attainment a person can reach in this lifetime or the lowest to which he can descend’. Pluto’s influence when it transits our chart can be very influential, especially when it transits one of the angular houses. (First House of Self, Fourth House of Home and Family, Seventh House of Marriage and Partnerships, or Tenth House of Career and Reputation.)

Last year Pluto shifted from the sign of Capricorn - where it had been since 2008 - into Aquarius, where it will remain until 2043. That will have a profound effect on all of us, but if it’s moving into any of your angular houses, you’ll get a little extra pop out of this change. Let’s look at the big picture first.

Pluto moving into Aquarius marks the beginning of a transformative era focused on innovation, collective power, and societal evolution. Pluto, the planet of deep transformation, regeneration, and power, will bring its intense energy to Aquarius, a sign associated with technology, progress, individuality, and humanitarianism. This transit signals a shift in how power structures, technology, and societal norms are understood and restructured.

Expect revolutionary advancements in science and technology, shifts in how communities collaborate, and a redefinition of authority as power decentralizes and moves toward the collective. Social movements may gain momentum as people prioritize equality and freedom.

If you know your time of birth in addition to the date and place, you can find out what your rising sign is and see where the houses are in your chart. That will allow you to see where the phenomenon of Pluto-in-Aquarius falls in your chart by looking at your natal chart to see what house the sign of Aquarius falls in.
