Tarot To Go

If you’re a tarot maniac like I am, you probably always have at least one tarot deck with you.  I’ve got a mini Rider-Waite-Smith that I carry in my purse and a Hanson-Roberts in the glove compartment of my car, not to mention my regular pro reading decks that I use for work, fun decks to play with, and whatever my latest deck purchase happens to be.  But thanks to the amazing folks at The Fool’s Dog, LLC who develop incredible tarot apps, I can carry entire decks in my phone as well!

These are not just obscure decks, either.  There are quite a few decks from my favorite all-time tarot deck creator, Signore Ciro Marchetti himself!  I now own several of his decks in the limited edition, the mass market version, the mini version, and now, the app version!  (But that’s a topic of obsessive/compulsive cartomancy for another blog some other day, perhaps.)

You don’t even have to buy an app to get a sneak peek at how the app works; there’s a free sampler that you can download (but at less than $5 a pop, these apps are well worth the price).

To check these out, go to wherever you get your apps on your smartphone and search for The Fool’s Dog LLC.  Your search will show you many different decks created by the developer; there are nearly a hundred decks!  They are mostly tarot decks, but there are some Lenormand decks and other oracles as well.

The apps don’t ‘read’ the cards for you, but they do provide virtual means to simulate shuffling, drawing, laying out, and interpreting the cards.  Meanings for each card are included in the app and they are just a click away, including both a full-blown description/interpretation or a quick list of keywords.  I recommend buying at least one of these apps to my first-year tarot students because it’s easier than dragging around a book of tarot meanings (which is what I did when I was new and learning tarot!)

If you’ve been meaning to check out a tarot app, I strongly encourage you to try one of the decks by these amazingly creative folks.  Even if you’re just curious about the deck, the cost of the app will be a much less expensive investment than purchasing a tarot deck.  It’s a cool way to learn more about tarot and you’ll never have to worry about whether or not you have a tarot deck with you! You’re welcome. :)
